You are right, they are surreal rather than real; many would agree that's far more appealing. My kid is in the blue shirt and gets marginally more on-camera time than the other kids, which makes him something of a leading robot ninja hamster spokesman, as well as (of course) a paid robot ninja hamster wrangler, so while he may not be an actual robot ninja hamster expert, he plays one on tv.
